Steve Jobs…

Posted by Carlos in Opinions

I learned of Jobs’ death the same way many people did, while using one of his creations.  My family and I were at our local library, our children volunteer there once a week. My wife and I were waiting for them to finish up and were sitting at a corner table playing Air Hockey on my iPad when a notification from CNN popped up.  All I read was “Steve Jobs..” and I closed the lid to my iPad.

Many of us knew that it would be a matter of time before we would receive this news but were hopeful that something else would happen.

Reading the outpour of sympathy and grief coming from all over the world is proof of his impact.  He has changed the world for a better place.  Not just in technology but in many areas (personal computing, cellphone, design are just a few from the top of my head).
I would speculate that Mr. Jobs would not want us to mourn his loss, but celebrate his time with us and continue to strive to make our place better.  As he said during his commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005,  “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”

What better way to honor his memory than following his words, your heart and intuition and becoming the best you can be.

This is not another flame post about Verizon and their services.  It is more of a head’s up to ensure that you are receiving the service you are paying for from any service provider.

In particular, I am writing about Internet service.  I have been with Verizon as long as I can remember.  We moved into our new home about 4 years ago and we brought the Verizon service with us.  Where we were before we were receiving exceptional service and I did not think it would be different here.  Especially since FIOS was just “right around the corner”.

bobama On September 8th, 2009, President Barack Obama addressed the elementary, middle, and high school students of the United States. Although not a unique event, I think this address may be one of the most important events in our nation’s history….

Prince Is Back!

Posted by Carlos in Opinions

Planet EarthThe Prince is back, with his latest album “Planet Earth”. Although some critics may call this album ‘alright’, I’d say ignore them and find out for yourself.

“Guitar” is a great tune where you get to hear his guitar playing and “Chelsea Rodgers” is an upbeat song that has a catchy tune.

A Little Perspective…

Posted by Carlos in Opinions, Web Stuff

Miniature EarthFor many of us, there is not enough time in the day to contemplate anything other than what is right in front of us. It would benefit us to look at the world around us and see what a wonder it is. Doing so may allow us to realize that if we don’t do something to change our ways, we may not have much to marvel at.
Many people might say that one person’s actions may not amount to a hill of beans…..

The President We Wish We Had?

Evo Morales - President of BoliviaOn September 25th, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” had on as a guest the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales. Not only did I think that this interview was the best that Jon Stewart has had on his show to date, it almost made me wish that I was Bolivian.
